No backup files in that directory.
There is a debug file directly related to what we're doing today:

I think you have reached the point of being stuck between a rock and a hard place ...
You need a newer version of php, at a minimum I would think php 5.4, but this is soon going to be needing an upgrade to php 5.5 ...
Then you need to upgrade to Zen Cart v1.5.4 ...
I attempted a Zen Cart v1.3.9d with php 5.4+ and things *appear* to work but I just did a quick test to see if it crashed or not, I have no idea if this is working 100%, but that might be a place to start first by upgrading your php version to php 5.4 and see if your site works and the USPS.
But I would really focus on getting your site upgraded to Zen Cart v1.5.4 as soon as you can.

Thanks a lot Ajeh. I have contacted out hosting company and have requested that we be upgraded to at least PHP 5.4 or higher for the time being while I work on upgrading the entire site.

Sorry to bug you again, but I managed to get PHP upgraded to 5.4.39 and everything on my site seems to work fine from the customer front end, but the admin doesn't work now and instead gives me this error:
Any idea what may be causing this issue by chance?Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Additionally, if I have to, can I reinstall the same Zen-Cart version over top of my existing install and have it repair the missing files, but keep settings by chance? Or is that not possible?

"500 Internal Server Error" is a generic message. It's vague, somewhat intentionally in case hackers are poking around, etc.
Check your debug logs in:
/cache
do you have any being created when you try to go to your Admin?

Ajeh, you sir are a life saver.
I had to contact my host to have the issue resolved, ended up being an issue on their end luckily. Everything is up and running now, including shipping quotes and everything.
Now I can focus on updating my store to the newest zen-cart version while still serving my customers.

Can you provide the link so we can download the latest version of the USPS shipping module? Do you have step-by-step instructions?
