    Default Tax Class Problem

    Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction regarding an issue that I am having with some products not all regarding tax (GST). If I place an amount in the product price (Net) of $1.00 it should update the Product Price (Gross) to $1.10 which includes the GST of 10%.

In other products it works ok. Is there a way to find out what the issue might be because it appears to have something to do with the database and files copied when adding new products.

    Any assistance would be great.

They were copied in admin. Yes they could have been linked at some time. I have a few modules installed on the site below is some:

    Edit orders
    Super Orders
    Easy populate (not used)
    Zen light box
    Configure RCS
    Cross sell
    Simple Popup
    ZX Slide Show
    Cross Sell
    Free Gift
    Quick Updates
    Fast and Easy Checkout

All modules seem to work ok but have not used Easy Populate on this site as yet.

It should also work the other way, if you enter the gross price the net price should be getting updated.

I've not experienced this as being a 'product' related issue, but I have experienced the issue of the data not being updated.

    So, 1st things 1st.

ZenCart only stores the NET price in the products database. Any tax additions are calculated on the fly.
When entering a product price, as long as you enter the correct NET price you can ignore whatever is displayed in the GROSS box.

The Gross/Net price updates are handled by a little piece of javascript, so if you have javascript disabled (or if the code doesn't get loaded for some reason) then changing the price in one field will not change it in the other. On the occasions where I've found this doesn't work (or more often just stops working after a while), the 'cure' is to force a page refresh.

I believe the important thing to take out of this reply is that only the NET price is important. The Gross price can be considered as being for display purposes only.

If/when the change to one field doesn't result in a change to the other field it is because the javascript has failed.

    Cheers
