I am at my wits end---attribute will not work

1. Created product description page ---store freebie that also has a download link within the description. it has "owner" as the FreeStuff category with the designers name where it should be.

2. tested link and it works

3. go to attributes area and choose download/download, go to bottom and write in the path (free/ColorsForStarSummerUD2.zip) click insert and the dot is red.

I have rezipped it, reuploaded it, changed the name of the zip/uploaded and still the dot is red

I think I have done all the steps and still it won't turn green.

the regular downloads would not let me post a direct download link for those that do not want or need to register to nab them.

I can not figure out why it stopped working either cause all the others still function in both posting the direct link and if they click the add to button, the item gets added to cart with a download link when done.

The way i finally got it to work was by adding the item to both download and free directories

I played with mine and had to add it to:
/download/free

And then it gave the green dot ...

I have not tested if the thing works in the catalog on an order yet ... but I will try to fool with that when I get back tonight or tomorrow ...

I had it just sitting in the store /free and it activated in category section of admin but when I went into attributes it claimed the path was invalid....and gave the red dot there

that is why I finally added it to the download directory also and then it allowed the attribute to be added but not to free but to the designers folder
