sub catagory names display twice in the center page

I am new to Zen Cart and have been using it extensively to get to know how the product works. I have it all configured the way i like it but came across an issue.

I have a list of categories in the category side box. The first entry is Accessories with several sub categories under it. If you were to click Accessories in the side box then all the sub categories are displayed in the center page. However, the names are duplicated twice? Eventually I will have images for them as well and I think I know how to add them.

How do i display only one name?

I discovered that if i add the image for that sub category then the image and only one name is displayed. So, If I want a mix of categories with and without an image how do i display the category without the image to display only its name once?

On the categories without an image, you could use a dummy transparent png or a white jpg image
