Default Upon Login attempt, I'm getting "Email Error: Could not instantiate mail function."

I'm trying to log into a Zen Cart I haven't managed in a while and could possibly have been mangled by the owner. I'm getting this error when I try to log in AND also when when I try to reset my password.

Email Error: Could not instantiate mail function. Please check Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Email Transport.

    Any clues?

It could be from a server change as well in phpMyAdmin
go to what is defined as TABLE_CONFIGURATION
modify the row that has the configuration_key = EMAIL_TRANSPORT so configuration_value = PHP.

That should hopefully resolve the problem I suspect it's set to smtp or something, and your server doesn't allow it.

I actually logged in with another Admin account and checked the transport settings — it was already set to PHP. I tried all the other settings and some make the password reset submit return a "An email was sent to the address you entered...yada yada." but no email ever arrived in my email inbox or spam folder. SMTP returned a "could not conned" error.

I have a classic linux hosting account at Godaddy... maybe they modified their settings...?

Ok...that's a godaddy issue, it's unlikely they will help you though.

Honestly, I ran zencarts on GoDaddy 6 years ago...haven't since...

Here is a blog post from mprough with issues she had: http://pro-webs.net/blog/2012/09/26/godaddy-epic-fail/

IMHO: I would recommend moving to a new host, not just because of this problem

One of the main reasons we started doing our own hosting was GoneDaddy. Admittedly, they are better now technically BUT, they also are good at the "oh, you wanted bandwidth with that?" and you will quickly find that "unlimited bandwidth" is certainly not.
If your host allows the installation of FrontPage or other vulnerable services (Wordpress is constantly being hacked) you are putting your Zen Cart at risk by staying with them.
    A little help with colors.
