    Default Maximum file size

My client wants to make MPG videos available in his store. Is there a maximum file size? Are there somewhere some good step-by-step instructions for this as I've never done downloadables.

Your max size will be predicated by your hosts settings

OK, will check. I know "the customer is always right" but I have a feeling he'll be disappointed. 1.8Gb is a little on the large side...

Why is disappointment expected. Would agree that 1.8Gb is a bit large, but unless it is expected that such a file is to be uploaded using the store itself (not ftp) then there should be no disappointment.

Basically to elaborate on what kobra said: file limits are applied on uploading the file to the store as a store guest or from the admin panel as part of PHP processing the file. But, if the file(s) are uploaded via ftp, then basically should be good to go. Might want to split the file up a little for time's sake/storage/etc...

This is what the ISP says:

"Theoretically it is possible but all remaining disk space on the account will be taken up leaving little room for anything else to be uploaded in the future.
Needless to say it will take a long time to upload to the server due to the large file size. My recommendation would be to host the file somewhere like Youtube or a similar service because as soon as 3-4 people download the file, the monthly bandwidth quota will be reached and subsequently the website will be temporarily disabled."

But he wants to charge for it, so Youtube isn't an option.
