Email not working when orders placed: "Could not instantiate mail function"

This is the message that appears when an order is placed.

Email Error: Could not instantiate mail function.

What's going on.

I did and my email transport is set to PHP which is suggested by hosting site. We have used this system for 7 years and I have not changed anything since the 26th at 5:58am (last working email from Zen cart system). It just stopped receiving any emails initiated within Zen Cart.

Suggest to check with your host if they have made any changes on the server after the 26th 5:58am.

You can use these to assist in determining if the emails are being generated and for possible reasons they are not passed on properly
