Category Setup

Hi All,

I am new to Zen cart and am wondering if it is possible to set up the categories in such a way that there are 2 big category types (Call them A and B).

Category A sorts the goods by their type - Poster, T-Shirt, Figurine etc.

Category B sorts the goods by the show they're from.

All the goods would have both Category A and B attached to them.

Is this possible or should I just assign attributes for the secondary sorting system?

When you say "sorts" these products, do you mean that posters would be in a posters group (sub-category off of category A) and that poster 1 would be in a particular show(s) under Category B (sub-category off of Category B such as the date/name of the event)?

This would be considered linking a product from it's "master category" (the category that is desired to consider as the home of the product.) And yes that aspect is fully within the existing functionality... So, thought is:

Category A (Merch as an example name)
Posters
Poster 1
Poster 2
Poster 3
T-Shirts
T-Shirt 1
....
Figurines
...

Category B (Events for example)
Yesterday (would want to use somethng more specific/static)
Could list all items or further breakdown based on above categories with the product inside the same categories as above or different categories from above, your choice(s).
2-days ago (same as above, but keeping generic)
Same as category above.

Now entry of all this... Well, there are several different tools to accomplish some of this. Once one of these is populated the product from one category can be copied to another basically. So product entry is only needed once with remaining to be copied...

Bulk entry would be another aspect but that requires a plugin or well written sql statements. :)
