Display Global Features On/Off

I have searched for this and the only information I can find is way out of date, 2010. Can someone please explain, if we are told to have this 'Off' in everything we do, why do we have the 'On' selection there?

You have a default setting for this in the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

Option Names and Values Global Add, Copy and Delete Features Status
Option Names and Values Global Add, Copy and Delete Features Status
0= Hide Features
1= Show Features
(Default=1)

and you have a Session setting for this ... meaning if you set this manually it will follow the manual setting ...

NOTE: the default setting will not override the manual setting so if you change the default setting, either logout/login or change the setting manually to match during the current setting ...

To ask back and somewhat in another way (perhaps bigger picture), if it were off as ajeh has provided direction, would you have ever known that the feature existed? And with it off as a default, how many times do you think the question would be asked of how to do the things that are included in it? Or "worse" how many people would say that the software is incomplete because this or that feature is not included because the default was to have it turned off...

Personally, now knowing how the switch and the session interacted, now that I have become familiar with ZC I may actually just set a session value if it is not set to hide it by default so that I don't have to go find that configuration option, but also don't have all of the features shown on first visit and then to follow whatever was last chosen. Yeah, an extra session value I know, but... :)

On a routine basis, easy access to the features of the global change options particularly helpful when setting up attributes on "new" product. Also, by having it on by default, one is faced with it that after initial shock of so many available options will lead to further discovery and learning. Afterall, it led to this thread right?

It has not answered the question, but, I understand what you are saying, (if that makes any sense to you?)
