Missing header and products on main page

Hi

I am not sure what i have done. But, i have lost the header on my site and also the new products shown on the main page have gone too.

It could be that by accident one of the files was moved to another folder or removed.... but i am not sure what file it was.

How can i trace my actions ??

Any helpo would be appreciated.

In making mods to the site, first of all the template files in includes/templates/default_templates should not be modified. By keeping with that principle, the original action of those files should always be available if the override version is removed/moved...

That said, the other thing to prevent a situation inthe future is to 1) make a backup before modifying, and 2) work on a backup of the live site so that the live site is never affected like above.

Okay, so how to address/figure out?

To start:
See if there are errors in the logs directory.
Compare the site's files with a known good copy using somethng like winmerge or beyond compare.

The error came to happen because i am using my wifes laptop that has a touch sensitive mouse... it can be a pain...

I believe that i was moving the cursor whilst accessing some files in my FTP program and as i was moving the cursor i also moved a file to another folder.

This explains why i have no header and all featured products have gone.

So, now i need to compare the file architecture to what i have at present to what the backup has (backup was taken a few days ago).

Thats how the error/mistake happened...

If caught quickly while the screen is stll up, some allow undoing the action...

yes.... 5h1t happens as they say....

lesson learnt.

I use FileZila as my FTP client. Its good but it dosnt have the undo feature or history of what files have been uploaded etc.

So, im now also looking for a new FTP Client that has the undo feature... any suggestions ??
