customer issue Lost connection to database

I have had Zen Cart installed for a while and have been customizing it for my application. It was working last night and I could bring it up and work with it. Today, I get an error that says it can't connect to the database. I have two different versions of the store built with different databases, and I get the same error on both. One of the versions I haven't modified for over a week. I also tried to get to the admin page, and get a similar error. Does anyone have any idea how to get this back on track without having to rebuild the entire store. BTW, I am working with Windows 10. I checked and the databases are both still there.

    Thanks

When you say you are "working with windows 10" does this mean that your site is locally hosted on your computer that is operated and hosted through Windows 10 or do you mean that you happen to be using windows 10 and your site is on a server somewhere else?

It is currently hosted on my local computer operating under windows 10. I have installed a WAMP server.

And has ANYTHING changed since yesterday? Have you installed any new software? Or update something?
Can you connect to localhost/phpmyadmin ?
Are you sure your MySQL service has started?

I'm not sure about WAMP since I prefer using XAMPP, but there is this known and annoying issue with XAMPP where you can't start MySQL if you install Skype. You need to change Skype's settings and disable it from using ports 80 and 443 as alternatives - once you do that, everything works fine... Stupid simple, yet very annoying...

This may seem like a dumb question, but have you tried restarting the MySQL server? It may have crashed overnight (Well, you are running it under windows <g>), but more than likely it was installed as an application rather than a service, and if you rebooted the computer you'll need to manually restart it again.

    Just a guess.
