    red flag USPS Error

Ok, this is my last option! I am using the latest USPS Shipping Module 2015-05-31 and everything was working fine until one day I saw a larger than usual amount of abandoned carts and UPS orders. A customer notified me that they could not use USPS. Here are the curl test:

    Connecting to USPS (port 80)...
    Error 28: connect() timed out!

Connecting to USPS Test/Staging/Sandbox Server (port 80)...
    Error 28: connect() timed out!

** All other curl communications are functioning without issue**

Also, I went directly to the USPS Web Tools site and tried their test xml api's I received errors as well. I've contacted my Host, no issues on that end since curl is enabled and working. I've contacted USPS Technical Support and they had no clue.... I've installed and reinstalled the USPS Module in Zen Cart. My USPS ID is working and confirmed for the PRODUCTION server (been working fine since 2008). Not sure what to do.. I'm losing big $$$

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Seems to be a problem with some hosting providers the last day or so ...

Make sure that you have the current May 31, 2015 USPS shipping module:
    https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1292

Next, what version Zen Cart are you using?

It sounds like there is a communications issue with your hosting provider and being able to send out/in on port 80, best to contact them ...

You can also try this file and unzip it and add to your site in
    /extras

    then run it as:
    your_domain.com/extras/curltester.php
    Attached Files Attached Files

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I have that curltester.php installed and that's how I got the error codes that I posted. I also am using the latest USPS Module. Port 80 is working fine for all of the other communication modules. So, I'm at the end of my rope!

I am also having an issue. We had no problem with this at all until a few days ago. Now, nothing that I can do is working with USPS.

Worse, I just uploaded the curltest.php that I downloaded from this thread and it says that I am getting a Forbidden error.

I have the latest version of usps.php and am on Zencart 1.5.1.

I am seriously ready to start looking into other shopping cart solutions as this has completely taken our store down. I cannot move to step 2 of the shopping cart without allowing Free Shipping or Store Pick-Up - both of which are not acceptable.

    HELP!

Have you shown your hosting provider the link to:
    your_domain_name.com/extras/curltester.php

to see what the reason is for the connection issues?

The most important part of that sentence is "we had no problem at all until a few days ago".
.. which begs the question: what happened a few days ago?

    Did you change something?

Did you alter your Zen Cart site somehow?

I can tell you that Zen Cart does NOT mysteriously change itself.

    So ... something happened.

And if it wasn't "you", then who?
Maybe your hosting company? Have you asked? Did they change something in their firewall? Maybe something in PHP? Maybe someone else on your same server got hacked and your hosting company silently implemented a bunch of changes to tighten things up, not realizing it's affecting others without notice.

Or ... were you hacked? Did someone make unauthorized changes to the files in your Zen Cart site? Have you checked that all your files are present and accounted for, and none have been altered without your knowledge? Ref: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...ing_From_Hacks

I remind you: Zen Cart itself didn't suddenly just decide to refuse to work. Something caused it, and your job is now to find out what, and fix it, and prevent it from happening again. Changing software won't help anything if the real problem is a server security issue that needs fixing, or a hosting issue that can be fixed by the hosting company.

I suspect your site is encountering numerous errors, some of which you can't see because they're being silently recorded in logs (so that hackers can't abuse the info that could otherwise be revealed in such error messages).
    Two places to look are:
    - your site's /logs/ folder ... as per http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?124-blank-page
    - your server's control panel, in the Apache Error Log area

The first person posting in this discussion posted an actual error: "Error 28: connect() timed out!"

But, you've not actually stated what the specific symptoms are for your situation.
What exactly are you observing to be happening?
