units in Shipping Zone Rates Module

Canada Post server changes have mucked my site for second time in a month, and Canada Post mod is my only shipping mod engaged. I want to use the built in Zone Rates module to tide me over while CanPost gets sorted.

In the sample rates when I install the mod, for shipping by weight ie 3:7.50 I presume the 7.50 is $7.50 but what is the 3? ounces, pounds, kgs, g? Or is it automatically whatever a site default units is set to (in my case kg).
