resolve checkout button to checkout with Paypal

In the cart is it possible to have the link for the 'checkout' tab to go straight to the same page as the 'checkout with PayPal' tab? maybe with some sort of redirect? I understand in the upcoming ZC version 1.6 that the current confusion in checkout will be sorted out but at present it is too confusing for some shoppers.

Alternatively change the checkout with Paypal button to just checkout and delete the other checkout button??

Historically I have been getting enough customers getting confused to make it a problem and I know I have lost sales because of this - some eShoppers are just not savvy so I want to eliminate the confusion.
