Basic Paypal Express question

I decided it's time to get PP Express installed (perhaps not a good idea just before Christmas). I ssumed this would be in addition to the standard PP checkout but then I get the message that I must uninstall the standard before Express can be used. So does PP Express just work from the shopping cart page or does it also provide a standard checkout at the end of the cart process?

It offers the possibility of paying in three places out of the box. Two of these options make it "express" to create an account, populate shipping info, etc... (These two are on the shopping cart page and the first page after starting checkout if not logged in.). Then on the payment page, the option of which payment option is presented where paypal express when activated and otherwise not disabled would be an option...

This is where I get confused! I've just been on the Paypal page where the API details are and I get worried. I've got a total of 5 sites using Paypal as an option. 1 on Zen Cart, 1 on OpenCart, 1 on Wordpress, 1 html site using Serif and 1 on the Freewebstore hosted platform. If I make any changes to suit the Zen Cart site am I likely to cause problems with the others?

I meant to mention, all sites currently use Paypal Standard apart from the Freewebstore one which allowed Express checkout without adding API details or making any changes to the Paypal account settings.

I use PayPal Express on my zencart and I also use ebay (I'm not sure how they connect). And I didn't have a problem when I changed over. While this doesn't prove anything, it shows that changing from Paypal to Paypal expressv on one didn't effect the other.

I'll have a read through that now. I did install Paypal Express which was actually quite easy and none of the other sites were affected. I thought it was all working ok but on further testing I discovered it was only logging the correct postage for a UK visitor. If the visitor was from overseas, it still showed the UK postage. This was using the Zones module. I've removed it again now until I do some further investigations.

Depending on how you "use" paypal express, any such shipping charges may be updated along the checkout process... The final shipping costs to be incorporated on final checkout.
