Misplaced <b> tag causing layout issues

Hi Guys!

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. I completely agree with all the suggestions of fixing the HTML validation and it is on my list! I do want to get this column error fixed first as I know its a problem with something I have changed in a file somewhere. I do have a working backup that displays where it should so I will be comparing files and once I thin this will be the easiest to find exactly what I have changed.

seems everybody is overthinking it...use the tools...when inspecting the page in chrome and editing the html for the page and removing the open and closing <b> tags that are wrapped around the entire left column contents, the page displays as expected. So that would mean finding where the stray <b> tag is being inserted and removing it. bold tags just don't appear out of nowhere...

i would beg to disagree...

i do not think having an html validated page is overthinking anything.

whenever there is a layout problem or a form not submitting, the first place to look is always if the page will validate.

developer tools are great, and i used them to make my determination that removing the <b> tag does solve the OP's problem; but validating HTML would have said that as well as i doubt bolding an aside element is valid html.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I just put my mind to it yesterday and solved my problem. The problem was the invalidated HTML like a few of you said. It took me all day to figure this out as I went through file by file with my old backup to see if I could find the change that caused it, This turned out to not work so I turned to the HTML validator and found <b> tags in the description of all my products.

Using Easypopulate is stripped all the tags from the product description and this fixed my issue!

I do think that validating your HTML is important and I do plan on doing it, I just dont have a huge amount of my time because the website is not my main job.

I hope this may help to fix someone else's problem in the future
