Specials and Featured Products Help

I've been with Zen Cart now for 2+ years, and as time has marched on, so has my use of the many features, bells, and whistles offered by the package and selected mods. My site has over 4000 products spread across 50+ categories. 2014 was a record year for us, primarily because of Zen Cart, then 2015 beat 2014 by 25%, again because of added features and functionality.

Now I find myself wanting to increase sales even further by not only expanding and varying Specials, but also by creating more variety in Featured Products. I know how to create a special and how to designate a product as Featured; however, both are tedious processes and neither one creates a value in the product data file to show that a product is a special or featured, and if special, what the special price is. There are no fields for Special (Yes/No), Special Price (% or $), or Featured (Yes/No). It would be nice to be able to mass edit the product data file for these values (I use Apsona), rather than manipulate them one-by-one.

I have searched the forum and can't find any meaningful reference to what I am looking for, although I probably missed something somewhere. Can anyone enlighten me on where I might find the solution to my problem?

I don't know about apsona, but easy populate 4 does support mass update of specials and featured products.
