Improving search box results on main page

My question is- How do I improve search results using the search box in the upper right

Present problem- example search C1
Result is way down the page. Search engine displays everything in the database that contains C1

I realize that it should display this way, but what I would like to do is tell the search engine to display the first 2-3 characters searched for, in the top position instead of a mixed result somehwhere way down in the pages result. When someone searchs for a numbered key code, the number requested comes out almost at the bottom of the page.

Does anyone know how to make the search box/search engine be more specific?

G'day,

lat9 made some changes to my site so that priority in the results is given to items where the search item is in the product name over it being in the product description. There might even be a topic here somewhere about it.

The plugin that @lloyd_borrett refers to can be downloaded here: https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=2038. It gives priority (i.e. displays higher in the list) to matches within a product's name.
