I think the only potentially-troublesome change with MySQL 5.6 would be for MySQL 5.6.6+ where zero-dates ('0000-00-00') are disallowed in the default configuration (which is enforced more aggressively in MySQL 5.7).
There aren't many places in v154 where zero-dates are used, but you'd need to accommodate for that, or just use v155 which already accommodates it.
