    Default order emails not received

    Hi

    Perhaps it is not a Zen Cart issue, but better ask.

    The email notices of new orders are not received anymore, they used to work fine.
    I set the archiving to true, and made a test order, and sent an email to "customer" both emails are showing up in the mail archive table, and the email sent has been received by the "customer".

    All emails settings are set with a free email service, save theemail displayed in "contact us", and email address (sent from), which are set as info @ domainname.com

    SMTP is set to mail dot domainname.com

    versino is 1.51

    make sure the smtp configuration is correct;
    check the mail spam box, the email may be sent into spam box;
    i didn't know your store email options settings, so i have no more suggestion to you;

    keneso, it could be that your Zen Cart version v1.5.1 is too old.
    Newer versions of Zen Cart use a newer version of phpMailer which works much better with modern email services.

    Thank you both.

    I was planning to upgrade, and waiting for 1.55 ... Any estimate on that?
    Anyhow I'll go on and upgrade to 1.54, and see if it solves it.

    But what could have happened if 1.51 was working fine before?

    Given that your old version of Zen Cart software hasn't changed, it's quite possible that your hosting company changed something ... like PHP versions and/or email infrastructure, or even your "free email service" might have modernized some of the technologies running their services.

    That's why it's important for you to keep up-to-date.

    my 2 cents...

    i agree on keeping everything up to date in a theoretical ideal best case scenario..... and i also think that trouble shooting email can be a royal pain....

    that said, if the customer gets the email, and the store owner does not, i can only think of the following scenarios:

    1. it strikes me that something is wrong in the configuration; specifically the email address that copy of orders go to: SEND_EXTRA_ORDER_EMAILS_TO

    2. OR the email is getting sent to the store owner and the store owner is not receiving it...... the blocking and/or filtering of various email servers can be difficult to troubleshoot.

    3. OR the store owner is getting it and his email client is doing something with it, ie putting it into another folder, marking it as spam, etc so that the store owner can not find it.

    there are a multitude of reasons why the store owner is not getting the email; but if the customer is getting the email, i find it hard to imagine that upgrading with solve this problem. i could be wrong.

    one last thing, if you are using a free email service to send the email, i would look to see if it is receiving the send email message. if the customer gets the email, there should be a record of it at the free email service (at least there was one when i played around with a free email service); you can then see if the email to the store owner is there as well. if it is not, then you know you have a problem with ZC. i hope that makes sense.

    Thank you.

    I've done the checks, and couple tests, it seems the only missing piece is the mail notification of the new order.
    I will upgrade just to not leave anything untried (?).

    In case will update.
