100002 security error - This is Different

Hello:

I just installed both PayPal Express and PayPal Pro.

Here is the problem. I think I have everything set up correctly. In the past I had changed the name of the website from mygiftsite to mygiftfair and then back to mygiftsite again.

I am now getting this error:

PayPal account authentication settings are not yet set up or the API security information isincorrect (100002) 100002 security error. Security error is not valid.

The API username that I am getting still has mygiftfair in it even though I had the business name and all of the email addresses changed. I don't know what else could be wrong. The SSL is set up properly also. I have contacted PayPal and they said I needed to contact my developer. Well, here I am.

I have the website set in sandbox mode and it is down for maintenance. If needed I can take it off maintenance. Please let me know.

Any ideas?

Hi Guys:

On the third contact with PayPal, I finally received the answer to the question. Apparently, you can't run any transactions when the account is set to "sandbox," which is what I thought that function was for. Took it out of sandbox and I'm up and running. I have a few more things to do and I will be open for business. Hooray, finally.

Correct.

"Live" accounts must only process in "live" mode.
If you want to process in "Sandbox" mode, you need to go to the PayPal Developer Sandbox site and create a Sandbox account here, and use those credentials in your store while it's in Sandbox mode.
Then when you want to "go live", you must replace the credentials with your "live" credentials and set it to "live" instead of "sandbox".

... probably because you identified yourself as a storeowner, and not as a programmer. If you were a Developer they might have put on a different hat ... but you're not, so no need to sweat over it.
