Default Moved To New Host and Lost All Products and Categories

    Hello,
I apologize if this has already been posted. I searched the forum with 3 different terms and never found a post identical to my issue.

I moved my website to a new host recently (my old host was GoDaddy -I definitely don't recommend them at all)..

I followed the tutorial from Zen Cart to a T, and got it moved pretty smoothly! I was surprised considering how clueless I am about MySQL databases and whatnot lol

Everything looks awesome.. My custom template is there and looks as it should, my reCaptcha mod is there and working as it should. Only one problem here: All my categories and products I had are gone

I also noticed how I had to re-do everything in the admin, like for example all of my options for things like website maintenance, layout boxes controller, stuff like that.

I don't mind having to re-do all of the admin-controlled options, but the having to re-make all of the categories I had and re-add all of the products I have is a bit...overwhelming. I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is anything I can do to easily have them all back?

    Thank you for your help!

Well, depending on which instruction you followed, it sounds like you missed a couple of steps... but, it if you still have access to your old site, it is relatively easy.

You need a backup of your old database, and in the event you have that and did the backup/restore of it, you may need to know what the DB_PREFIX was for your old store as found in includes/configure.php.

If you did do the backup from the old store and then imported that database to your new site, then when you did the install to create the new configure.php files, that removed your old data. Would just need to upload/import again. Assumably the site at the new host is the same version as at the old host. As such do not need to run zc_install again.

    NEVERMIND!

I figured it out. I needed to put the DB prefix in the config file as "zc_"

Thanks! I did figure out what to do, but thanks for the reply.
I did find a troubleshoot for it on the Zen Cart site. That's how I figured out that my DB prefix shouldn't have been blank. Phew! I did NOT want to re-do over 50 products with multiple images haha.

Hi Patience! Glad to hear you got it sorted out.

I was just looking at the tutorial, at: https://www.zen-cart.com/content.php...fferent-server

Given that you've recently followed it and had some difficulty with it, what would you suggest be changed in the article to make it easier to "not miss" that DB prefix step?

    Hi DrByte!

I think the tutorial and troubleshoot are fine, actually. What I did was I looked at the file for my new database and not the old one. So I just looked at my old one that I had backed up and saw that the DB prefix was listed as "zc_", added that into both the configuration files I needed to, then like beautiful leprachaun magic, it worked. hehe :)
