Replace product images by attribute or by adding a selector in the description?

Hi, my site is augiespanoramas(dot)com and I offer many printing options of the panoramas on my site. For all of my prints, I offer a "glossy print" and a "canvas print" option, as well as "triptych" options on some listings. I have images that would represent each of these and I'd love to replace the main product image when they select that option. I don't mind if they select the option in the attributes, or add tabs of some sort in the description body. Can anyone recommend a place for me to start? Definitely a step in the right direction. I like how the birth month image changes depending on what option is selected. (I'm going to PM you now too)

This is something I'm interested in too, as a couple of my products have multiple attributes. No problem setting them up, but it would be nice to have the appropriate image pop up when a customer chooses an option.
