help question Main menu in mobile version editing

    Hi, Zen Cart community!

I have site http://fdt-dog-supplies.com/ with installed Responsive All Business Template. I want to show the categories of my products immediatly after clicking on the hamburger menu button, without additional click on "shopping" menu.
I see, that after click on the "shopping" menu, the class "hover" is added to the <li> tag. - https://monosnap.com/file/L7BjzzYzwK...18AdiYxlPzL4wY
Can I manually add this class in HTML? How to find this part of html? Or maybe are there other options for solutions?

    Best regards!

The best place to ask questions related to the modifications of a template is in the forum thread regarding the template.

Otherwise, a useful tool to find aspects of what you are looking for is the developers tool kit found in the admin under the tools dropdown.

When searching, try to find something that is specific/limited instead of an entire length of text. For example searching for just hover. It may provide multiple locations, but likely to include one of the files/areas associated with what you want to modify. Of course it may also be in javascript related files instead of php, but information like that would be easier for those familiar with the template (readers of the specific forum) or by searching the code as suggested above.

I would respectfully add a step or two before bothering a template author with a code placement or code change question. Unless a template is using something other than standard layout boxes, menus, page layouts, etc.; most templates are used for color display, minor placement adjustments, AND inclusion of other-than-standard actions.

To tie up the creator's time (and bloat the support thread) with items not really relating to the template is non-productive to all.

Too many times, a user will run straight to a template thread for something that the layout boxes controller or ezpages menu would handle just fine.

In the case of category display, the Developer's Tool Kit will not get you to the Admin selections for category display.

Folks are beginning to demand from template creators, "how do I move my product description to (insert place here)." If the template author was not responsible for the placement or use of certain code, they should not have to field questions about that. Their time could be better spent polishing the templates configuration rather than spending time researching something that was not a part of the template to begin with.
If a template included the files for say, COWOA, then COWOA would be a valid topic in the thread. If checkout is not touched, then a question of adding text to the checkout page should not be part of the template discussion.

As Zen Cart gets more and more complicated, more and more folks are coming to the forum without taking the time to google a question. Or, taking the time to investigate the "workings" of the cart itself.

Perhaps we need a new forum topic - Point Me in the Right Direction - for those folks. Even if the user doesn't start with a Point Me thread, perhaps we should redirect them in order to control bloat in a thread that often needs to be read from beginning to end for clarification.

I'd venture to say that most of the 329 (currently) posts about the Responsive Classic have little to do with anything that Anne's template touches or was intended to be touched.

To quote Dennis Miller, "Of course, that's just my opinion. If you don't agree with me ...."

The key I see there, and part of good use of the forum.

    Research it.

I've seen both questions and the answer in the template thread. I didn't do the investigation to further that. Also, in the thread(s) are discussion of such sources of other additions to the template(s). That should be a clear indication that one should then go research how that addition works and the appropriate place in which to find more information.

That said, posters (unrelated to this new zenner) are not taking the time to read even as much as the post just before theirs... ie. updated files supporting version x have been uploaded. The next post: does this work on version x?

All that said, I don't want to stifle new users as besides all that there is to learn about the software, there is also a lot to learn about the forum and how to interact with the software to pull out of it what is seen by the end user.

Getting through or over each of those is no quick and easy task and I think that at least initially one could benefit by guidance, after enough of that, *then* turn on the heat. :)
