Should I even worry much about my gtmetrix & google PageSpeed Insights scoring ?

Hello,

I am trying to improve my search ranking. Here is my scoring in gtmetrix

I get a B in both categories. I started off from a C , I searched for info on how to Leverage browser caching to improve my score. Is this normal or should I even not waste anymore time on this anymore and focus on adding more products ? I ask because I am starting to get paying customers now. But want to improve my ranking in google so I get more and I have been told by seo guys on youtube that page load speed is a factory in the ranking ?

If this is something I should work to improve , there are two things I don't get about gtmetrix. The Specify a cache validator and Serve scaled images fixes it tells me to fix.

In terms of the cache validator , it tells me to add a Last-Modified or ETag header to enable cache validation for the following resources.

Is this something that is not possible in zencart ?

getting a faster page load is desirable and achievable in zc. look at gtmetrix suggestions. most involve adding directives in your .htaccess file (not part of the base zc package). do a little reading and you should be able to get your speed up to A.

In absence of other installed image software, the .htaccess that you will want to touch is the one in the images directory and/or those in the path to other image providing directories such as found in includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE.
