Admin - Admins can now login to a customer account (login as that customer), to place an order on their behalf.
Not sure how admin login as customer is expected to function.
I have been using encrypted master password in all previous versions and have a special admin profile and user for the sole purpose of logging into customer's accounts.

I cannot find any EMP type of setup in the admin config (yet)
The password for my EMP account does not function.
I use LastPass for all my passwords, so generally haven't a clue what any particular password is.
I do know the Admin password that functions with past EMP admin profiles.

Are the special instructions on how this now included feature is intended to work?

Go to Admin > Configuration > My Store.
If you only want one admin to be able to place orders (or login as the customer), set Customer Place Order: Single Admin ID to that admin's ID.
If you want anyone with a specific admin profile to be able to place orders (or login as the customer), set Customer Place Order: Admin Profiles to that profile ID.

You can find admin ids on the left hand side of the screen shown when you go to Admin > Admins > Admin Users.
You can find profile ids on the left hand side of the screen shown when you go to Admin > Admins > Admin Profiles.

To allow all superusers to use this function, set Customer Place Order: Admin Profiles to 1.

When you click place order from the Admin > Customers screen, you will be prompted to enter a password for that customer; enter your admin password.

TNX, found those settings and they are already in the db from the import from live site, so all should work as in the past with EMP installed?

Build a cart from the website
Go to checkout
enter customer email address
enter the password for the admin ID that has always been setup and worked using EMP in 156c
Error: no match for email and/or password

EMP is the old way. What I just described is the new way.

So there is no way to view a customer's cart from the website side of things, that function was removed?

I never use it to place an order; only to help a customer troubleshoot an order.

i had to install master password, (where i can set a master password in admin.) for login as customer to work. the new way requires you to click log in as customer and than put in admin password. old way click login as customer and click ok to login.

The button "Place Order" from the customers screen allows you to login as a customer. You have to configure it, as noted above.

The admin profile must now have the "Customers" checkbox checked under the "Customers" category.

I have an admin profile that is/was dedicated to EMP. That profile had zero checkboxes checked. Now the admin profile has only one checkbox checked.

Other than that change/requirement, all my EMP admin settings saved within the database are functional in the built-in version.
That was not a requirement to be set in EMP in order to be functional from the consumer facing website.

Also, the built-in LogInAsCustomer DOES function from the consumer facing website once the Customers/Customers checkbox is checked in addition to being able to use the "Place Order" button from within ADMIN.
