Temporarily close store

I did a search in this forum and found only one thread on this subject that said I did not have permission to access it.

I'm likely to have to have surgery that will take a couple of months to recover from. I need to close my store temporarily, preferably without losing site ranking.

You can put your store into Showcase mode - which will remove the ability to purchase.

Admin > Configuration > My Store > Store Status

Perhaps combine that with a closure notice banner at the top of the page.
