    How does the stylesheet work?

I have a site that was perfessionaly done since i am http and php illiterate. My question is how would i get the design of this site working in my style sheet. I am completly lost and am thinking about going back to OScommerce because at least i can use the template that comes with it. If its possible to incorporate my website that is http into the stylesheet.php please let me know, if its not then i will just try to make it look similar. I have asked this question a few times with no real answer. If my question dosent make any sense please let me know and i will try to clarify. Thanks again for your time.

I'm sorry Jesse, but your question doesn't make much sense. A Zen Cart shop is built using three programming technologies. PHP looks in your database and sees what is to be displayed. It builds a page using HTML (which I suspect is what you mean by http) and then uses CSS to control how the page looks. The CSS lives in one or more stylesheets. (It's not quite as pure as that, but that's the principle).

You don't say whether your professionally-built site is Zen Cart or OS Commerce. If it was Zen Cart then I would have expected them to have also provided a working stylesheet(s). Otherwise you would indeed have problems.

To answer as best I can how the stylesheet works, each item that appears on your page is contained within a pair of HTML tags. Most tags have an ID and/or classes attached. The stylesheet is used to say how a tag with that ID or class should look. To take a header for example, you can define its color, size, distance from text above and below, left and right. However it's much, much more powerfiul than this. You can find helpful guides to get you started in HTML and CSS at html dog.

Thanks for the clairification on that, my site unfortunatley wasnt designed for a shopping cart when i had it built, it didnt occur to me for them to do this since im so new. What I am trying to do is take my site and put zen cart on top of it. Im so lost between here and osc that my site is hurting from my lack of computer knowledge. If anyone can elobrate further that would be awesome.
    Thanks,
    Jesse

Hess, can you post a link to your current site. This will give us some idea of what needs to be done to replicate the design in Zen Cart.

    Hess,
You may want to read about customization at the Zen Cart wiki:

    Hess

I notice that since I last looked you've switched your store from OSCommerce to Zen Cart and even started taken the first steps to build your own template based on the template_default. Great start.

I can confirm that there is nothing in the design of your main site that conflicts with what you can do with Zen Cart. However, I think you would find it much easier to re-create the look, especially the round-edged boxes, on a site with fixed, rather than variable width.

    Good luck.
