Attributes Image Question

I would like to not only have thumbnail sizes of my attributes (in my case, using them for fabric swatches) but also be able to use a javascript to enlarge the images in a pop-up, the similar manner as the original product image does. Can anyone please tell me where exactly I insert this code and how to get all the attribute images to follow this? Just a little info, I know html, and I know my way around, but php and I do not always mingle well, i.e. I don't know how to really write script in PHP.

I want to have click to enlarge attribute thumbs also.
