    Shipment costs by weight

    Hi..

    I'm (still) using V1.27

I have set an account with a courier company to handle my freight.

They have a basic surcharge eg A$8.50, then they have a per kilo charge that is added to the basic surcharge.

Is there someway of setting this kind of shipping process up..

I'm also using the Auspost Module, but I want customers to have a freight choice..

ps.. Love the new site... well done Zen Team..!!!!

I think the Table Shipping option could possibly be your answer - have you looked at the various options in admin>modules>shipping?

If they're not installed, instal them - you can always uninstall any you don't use.

    Thanks Ryk.

The Table rate is what I ended up using, took a bit of converting, and a few formulas to calculate the costs, but it 'seems' to be ok..

    Cheers..

I used the same, but have a very odd problem. Each time I update the shipping table values in the table rate and then Update, the values return to the default!

    Can you help with this?

    Thanks

You either have an old version of Zen Cart with a bug ...

Or you need to save your current settings ... NOTE: save your settings they will be lost in a minute ... and uninstall and reinstall the table shipping module so that the fix is in there ...

What version of Zen Cart are you running? Peek in the Tools ... Server Info ... and grab everything from below the menu bar down to and including the PHP Version ...

    Hi

I want to do what mike has here. Can you let me know what you changed to do this. Weight range is from 25kg to 10000 kg. If I produce a table for this it will take ages, unless someone knows an easy way to do this. If it could be calculated it would be alot easier.

You really need to be more specific on how you want your shipping to work ...

Could you spell it out a bit more?

    Hi

Ok the courier charges £14.10 for anything upto 25kg. Then every KG over that is charged at 28p per KG. The largest order weight is 10000kg.

To produce a table that has a price set for every KG from 25 to 10000 would be a big task. So it would be better being calculated for any order over 25kg the calc would be (order weight - 25kg) * 28p + £14.10.

The questing is can this be done and how. If it can and it has to be a table is there an easy way to produce a large table with all these values in. Had a play with excel but found it impossible to produce a txt file that I could copy and past into the table. Also I do not know if there is a max size for the table anyway.

    Regards
    Laurie

This could be customized in a shipping module for managing the weight based on the <= 25 and then the formula for anything over 25 ...

It would take some recoding, but it can be written ...
