Setting up discount groups

Hi

I have a question from my client and he wants me to set up so that first time purchasers gets a discount or reduced prices of what ever they buy for the first time only.

Can it be configured through zencart? and how?
Can this be shown as a boxed item(s) in home page?

You could make it so that the create account displays on screen a Discount Coupon for first time customers that they can use for their order ...

Or, customize the code to set a discount coupon when the account is created ...

Note: a Discount Coupon remains valid during the session then unless the customer knows the Discount Coupon code it is not available ...

Or, set up a Welcome Discount Coupon good for XXX days ... this the customer would get in their email and you could tell them "check your email now for your special gift!" when the account is created ...

I have a new customer discount coupon set up and had just one question about it.

should I leave Uses per Coupon blank since it will go out to everyone who creates an account and set Uses per Customer to 1.

Last question :-)

How can I make it so that when the first time purchaser buys a product and registers at the same time AND receives his coupon value deducted from his first purchase.


At the moment Coupon comes as redemtion via email After the product has been purchased at the full price.

The email with the Welcome Discount Coupon comes after the create account ...

Depending on when the customer creates the account determines do they see it before or after the first order ...

If you customize the text on the Create Account Success page ... and say "Quick!! Check your email for your special Discount Coupon!!" ... then they will know to look before they check out ...
