Hello. I wanted to know if it is possible to set individual shipping costs for individual items; not based on weight. Basically can I set a specific shipping value for each item?

No- not the way you are envisioning it- but - Use the per Unit module and give your items a weight value that is equal to the cost of shipping for that item. I would suggest you turn off all of the weight displays.

So basically your saying to convert my shipping into so much a pound? And to turn off the weight displays so that the customer doesn't realize that the shipping is being calculated as a factor of weight? All they see is a $$$ value for shipping?

Ok Thanks :)
I need to do this too. I've been playing with this all day and all I have accomplished is proving myself to be pretty dense.
I want to set per item prices as well, I think it's a great idea to set the weight and this indicate a price for this weight.
So, like 1 pound=$8.00 and 2 pounds=$9.99 and so forth.
I have installed the per unit shipping, I'm just not really clear on how to configure it.
Any suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance!
The Per Unit Shipping Module works like this ...
If the setting for: Shipping Cost per Unit
is set to 1 then what ever you put in the Product Weight field is going to be:
1 * products_weight
So if you put in Shipping Cost per Unit as .75 and products_weight is 10 then the Shipping Cost is: $7.50 ...
But if you use Shipping Cost per Unit as 1 and products_weight is 10 then the Shipping Cost is: $10.00 ...
This is not set up so that when buying 2 of Product 34 then the 1st is $7.99 and the 2nd one is $6.99 ...
This is not setup that 1lbs = $8.00 and 2lbs = $9.99
You may wish to see if you can do something with tables if that is what you are trying to accomplish ...

Thanks for the quick reply. I was plugging away and managed to accomplish just that and then it added the 3lbs and/or $3 in my case for shipping and I found in the tare how to correct that. Now for whatever reason I go through my order and I can see the correct shipping price in the checkout process but it isn't adding it to my total. I'm sure it's a setting I have probably turned off at some point.
This is really the answer I was looking for in the shipping module. Thanks so much!
Good grief, I'm a moron.
Here's what happened. I have been having problems with my PayPal bringing over the orders and no matter what I did I couldn't fix it. I decided to do a clean install with the newest version and opened my old version to do my settings. Since I previously used the attributes to do all of my shipping charges I automatically turned off the line where it says to add the shipping to your total.
So, I turned that back on and everything worked well.
Thanks again for your assistance.
