    Default Location of override folders

    1. With the advent of the new support site I have lost connection with several pages that gave details about the files and folders to be changed in a custom template. Any suggestions on where to find those? I know Dr. B had a link and Network Dad had a tutorial.

    2. In building a custom template, will all of the customized files actually be inside a 'custom' folder? For example, /includes/templates/custom/template_info.php is the right place for the file. Correct? So, all css edits would go in /includes/templates/custom/css/...

Trying to make sure I get it right before I upload the thing.

I am working on ver1.3x and editing files from the default_template in the appropriate folders. Trying to migrate the custom work in 1.26 into the new format and make some changes at the same time.

    Thanks.

    You got it right,

the easiest way is if you can see a classic folder then you can put any changed file from that level in your custom folder

You might take a few minutes and try the search ...

Everything in the Archives does work on the search as well ...

You will know the old posts as they are all in forums that start with Archived ...

This may help you find all those lost favorites and perhaps when you find a few of those you might add their links here for others who have lost their way ...

As to where do things go ... all custom files, templates, language, overrides ... all end up in your /your_template_dir based on the locations of the /classic directories that are setup as a guide that an override can be placed there ...

Template things are in the /includes/templates/your_template_dir based on the structure of the /includes/templates/template_default

Just note, do not copy a file for the sake of copying ... only copy those files that you actually make changes to ...

Thanks to both on the feedback.

I am beginning to find some of the old threads that I regularly refer to and will be happy to post the links for others at the front end of the learning curve.

But in another posting somewhere I think Ajeh said to use files from the default_template. This is where I'm getting confused. The classic folder vs the default_template for customisation. I'm familiar with the overrides, but never touched the classic folder in past versions. Can anyone give finer details here?

    Cheers

You make copies of the template_default files and they live in YOUR_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE directories. The overrides can be used anywhere there is a classic folder.

    example:

    includes/templates
    classic
    YOUR_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE

Note: again ... only make copies to your override directories of files that you actually changed ...
