Admin > Configuration > Customer Details > Show Newsletter Checkbox (set to 0 to turn off the display of the checkbox on the create account page)
Admin > Configuration > E-Mail Options > Display "Newsletter Unsubscribe" Link? (set to false to remove the unsubscribe link in the information sidebox)

Never mind. I was confusing the email format with the newsletter. I will change the text wording to not mention newsletter. So instead of a confusing heading like "Newsletter and Email Details" for those that are not using the newsletter function to "Email preference"

But is there a way in the admin panel to hide the email preference radio buttons, without editing any of the files? I would rather not show this option at all!
Thanks!
