kobra, you raise many good questions nonetheless.

... it remains to be seen whether we've got the solution or not :)

(I'm suspecting there's something more at stake than a code problem ... perhaps some sort of security configuration thing ... but we won't know without digging further.)

DrByte you are a God-send! I inserted the revised code and then quickly checked a few of the email areas and all worked! Thank you!

I haven't taken the time to understand what your "fix" is doing as opposed to what was there originally because I wanted to get back to you quickly to let you know the good news. But I will take a close look so I can better understand it, which is my normal approach, because I feel that's the best way for me to learn.

Kobra - I also want to thank you for taking the time to do all that research. You gave me some hope in knowing that I wasn't a total idiot because I, too, followed the same route in researching the problem (short of doing a complete re-load). However, I had already done a great deal - building all the Custom areas, populating the cart with almost all my products, etc. so I was a bit hesitant in doing a re-load. As a matter of fact, I was at the point where I was about to configure the financial aspects and I will be done.

Again, my sincere "thanks" to both of you. It's possible that this old decrepit geezer might finally get a peaceful night's sleep!

    Best Regards to you both,
    --Yizit

    Kobra,

To answer your other questions and for the record should others encounter a similar problem:

    1) This was a new install
    2) I did the installation myself
    3) I do have ftp capability
    4) I had only installed ZC once before for a friend - Version 1.2.5 - with virtually no problems
    5) I did not go with version 1.3.0 because, at the time, it had just been issued and in less than a week there were already 16 "critical fixes" listed. I felt it would be wiser for me to go with something more stable and then consider doing an upgrade.
    6) I did do a d/l of all files on the server and did an eyeball comparison, line by line, of what I thought might be relevant files. I found no differences.
    7) You mentioned WinMerge which I gather would do a comparison (apparantly with less eyestrain) and I will look into that

Thank you again for your input Kobra and hopefully I may be in a position at some point to return the favor.

    Best Regards,
    --Yizit

The "fix" I gave you was a snippet of code from v1.3.0 that was updated to specifically address occasional times when the symptoms you mentioned were happening.

(By the way, all the bugfixes for 1.3.0 are in v1.3.0.1 currently available to download)

Thank you again, DrByte, for your assistance as well as your explanation of the "fix" you provided.

I have just downloaded v1.3.0.1 but instead of doing an upgrade to this store, I will, in my spare time, use v1.3.0.1 to build another store from scratch.

Quite frankly, the reason I have decided not to do an upgrade to the current store is because I am very tentative at this point. I am concerned that if additional problems develop by reason of doing an upgrade, resolution of those problems would be subject to long delays at this time due to the ZC Team being busy handling both the revisions to the website as well as dealing with the new release of ZC.

At risk of sounding patronizing DrByte, words cannot express how sincerely appreciative I am of your assistance.

    My sincerest Best Regards,
    --Yizit
