Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

I have (re)installed zen so I am talking about a completely original version without any adaptions. I added three products, installed the image handler and everything works fine.

But...: I would like to increase the size of the images that appear when you hover over the smal picture in the product listing. I thought I could do so by increasing the size of the medium pictures

So I changed the value for both
"Product Info - Image Width" and
"Product Info - Image Heigth."

If I do so, eveything in Firefox still works fine with indeed larger images, but in Internet Explorer I get an error on the page and the hovering images are not shown anymore.

Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong?

I've installed Image Handler 2 on my Zen Cart 1.3.8 and am not able to get the Watermark feature to work. Also, on the home page and category pages, I do get a zooming effect (large image from small, not a medium image). On the product pages, I get a medium image and am able to click to view a large image in a new window. The watermarks are not working on any of my images, though I do have them installed, per the original README file.
When I go to Tools>Image Handler 2>Preview, I get this error message (several times):
Warning: imagepng() [function.imagepng]: Unable to open '/home/anaheimd/public_html/poodlesupply/bmz_cache/b/b0f493998f9ef653459006a1980f5f19.image.100x56.png' for writing: No such file or directory in /home/anaheimd/public_html/poodlesupply/includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php on line 646

I've been through the manual many times and scoured the Image Handler2 thread.

Any suggestions would be wonderful...

I am confused and now really frustrated. I thought that I was installing Image Handler tested for use, for my version 1.3.xx. I had issues and since there were no real instructions included with the module, other than copy files into appropriate folders, and merge the ones that duplicated, I did my best to do so, but even with care, I seemed to have missed something ?

I then redownloaded to make sure that I had a good copy, then recopied all of the files a second time, trying to verify my work and then noticed some differences between the 1st and 2nd attempt. It wasn't until I was scrolling through the Contrib area, that I noticed TWO versions, identically named, IH2, but one was for the 1.2.xx series, the other for the 1.3.xx series ? So now I don't know if I had the failure based on installing the earlier version, or the later version ? I reversed the install order on #2 and I am still getting 'IH This and Thats' showing in the Admin/Config/Images area ?

If anything, can someone help me to finish stripping out the remaining IH so that I can go on, without reloading ZC ? If not, can some one tell the two authors of IH2, to rename their contribs to be a little more clearer or differently, other than just a version number that ZC references in their listings ?

What's really upsetting is alot of the files have duplicate file dates, so even that makes it even harder to figure out, which ones get weeded out ?

Don't you have backup?
If you do use the backup and reinstall the module.


2.If you dont check what files is included in 1.2 version as well 1.3 version and move them out from ZC. Do not delete incase you still need them for some reason.

NOTE you might also need to remove 1.2 and 1.3 data from database. I presume 1.2 and 1.3 IH modules has apropriate uninstall sql scripts.

After this you reinstall the module.

After this if you are unlucky you lost som merged file and some other modules stop working.
Well then you need to check the other modules install instruction what code need to be added.

Note: if you have no backup remember to backup next time.

I do have many back-ups, it's just that I don't sit still until I get a response off of the forum. I keep going.. So what I am faced with is, giving up some of my valued progress to give up something that can't be found, or... ?

I have been through each file set twice, double checking to make sure that all files injected, have been removed, verifying both sets..1.2 & 1.3, all are gone.. I can't discover them via .../Admin/Developer's Tool Kit/... etc. The text within all files, seems to be gone, only the /Admin/Configuration/Images/ shows signs of Image Handler ? Are these IH lines here on a raw initial install, with no modules added ? I might be trying to beat on a live horse vs. an assumed dead ghost ? i.e.;

IH resize images
IH small image filetype
IH small image background
IH watermark small images
IH zoom small images
IH small image hotzone
IH small image compression quality
IH medium image filetype
IH medium image background
IH watermark medium images
IH zoom medium images
IH medium image hotzone
IH medium image compression quality
IH large image filetype
IH large image background
IH watermark large images
IH large image compression quality
IH large image maximum width
IH large image maximum height
IH watermark gravity
IH zoom gravity

Database Tables are void of any IH markings.. ?

After this you reinstall the module.

After all of this effort, I am hesitant on wanting to reinstall a problem child with lack of any documentation other than gloat. As you can see from my text above, I don't know if one author, corrupted another's clean-up efforts, because like I said, alot of the files are identical in date & time so it's hard to tell, except file by file, what was updated for the new version release ? If I measure the value of a mod, by the number of responses in their support forum, I probably wouldn't have installed this one, having over 3000 'replies' ?

Marksu, thank you for following the issue..

I had some issues with IH2 and had to go back and reverse install IH2. I found that I may have initially installed the earlier version intended for 1.2.xx, and then over wrote it with the more recent version for 1.3.xx. After comparing all of the files in the two contribs, I noticed that there was an equivelant IH series of lines floating in the /Admin/Configuration/Images/ area after all was said and done, with all images fully crippled from any showing on any area of the test site. I di restore my backups, one level, attempting to get to an earlier version of IH2, as it had worked briefly before something went awry.

At this point, I took the version that was just showing 'place holders' and reloaded IH2 for 1.3.xx.. For the most part, at this moment, most is working, except the hover feature, the enlargement feature and some product pages.. I have reloaded Zen more than once so far and have learned things the hard way each time, I guess with out the "Zen Bible", I will flounder until I buy it and flounder until I reload ZC one more time, being way more attentive to each contrib, working it through until completion before I add another one.

I admit, 3 weeks ago, I thought the contribs were time tested and flawless to be in position, so I loaded several at one time, without cautiously following each one through.

I appologize to you, to the authors of each contrib that I have scrutinized and humbly will start over again.. or at least two or three backups back.

Right now, even though the hover is not working and I remember having to dig the resolution out for that, when I select a product, only the header appears, until I hit refresh again to get the side boxes and main page to appear.. I'll return, a stronger Zenner, soon.
