    Default UK Store Zone

    Hello,

I'm trying to install Zen Cart for the first time and am stumped by the Store Zone section of the Store Setup page. My store is in the UK but there seems to be no UK option and no default option. The "more info..." link gives no relevant advice and I've searched the forum but found no solution there.

Please could somebody advise me on the best way to proceed. Other than this the installer has been very nice.

    Many thanks,
    Tom

A UK configuration module has been created and should be available from the downloads section.

I am currently using this module on my own installation of zencart and would recommend it 100% :)

    regards
    Jayson

Thanks for the clue, Jayson. Unfortunately I still can't find the UK configuration module. I looked on the sourceforge download page, but couldn't see anything, and also inside the include/module directory of the CVS. Please could you give a link to the page where I can download the UK configuration module.

    Many thanks for your help,
    Tom

I don't know if there is a 1.3 version yet?

Apparently the previous link to the UK module has also changed. Here is another link I found on that website.

I have yet to use the package, but maybe it will work - keeping the fingers crossed.

A note to the world of OS software. I see from searching for an answer to this problem that it has been going on since 2003. Here it is nearing the end of 2006 and it still seems to be an issue. It will always be easy to discredit the idea of OS software if basic things drag on for years on end.

Further to the software world in general - the world is not made up of the US.

As a UK host I'd tend to agree with you, but ever since the very early days of html if you had written font-colour instead of font-color you would have gotten nowhere.

The problems with UK Zones has nothing to do with Open Source software. If you want to blame someone then blame successive British Governments - who just cannot stop tinkering with UK Counties (Zones).

Personally I was born in Monmouthshire, grew up in Glamorganshire, then just Glamorgan, then Mid-Glamorgan, then Bedwellty then Islwyn - all without moving home. But having lived for more than half my life in Norfolk I am glad to say it's one name which does not change - even though the borders do!

Can you imagine what would happen in the USA if the federal government decided to rename Texas!

But there is one ray of hope - the Royal Mail wisely still accepts Zones (Counties) based on the old (supposedly disused) 'Shire' county names. We use a set of Zone names based on the old Shire counties plus a few (only a few) more modern additions.
