adding manufacturer description

Oh this would be perfect.. has anyone came up with a solution for this??

I'd basically need description set up from admin for manufacturer(brand) and then call it up with custom line of code where ever I'd need it.. fex I'd need to display product description and brand description below it..

Yeah, I need this too! I don't know why there is no text area to add a manufacturers description. Seems kind of obvious to me.

Maybe someone wants to code this? You probably just needs to add a new field to the db and update some pages (i think)...

Unfortunately, to do this properly is slightly more complicated than this.

1. Because the existing manufacturers' table has no need to recognize language, the new field would need it's own table alone with a link back to the main manufacturers' table and a language code.
2. The database extracts would need to be amended to include the new table and the fields it contains.
3. The index listing template would need to be changed to display the new information, and there is a built in bug waiting to happen when the manufacturers' filter is used!
4. The stylesheet would need additional entries to style the text.
5. The manufacturers page in the admin would need major re-writing to be able to enter and maintain the new information using Zen Cart's multi-lingual capabilities.

None of this is very difficult. There's just a lot to do with not a lot of return unless the person doing it has a specific need for the project upon which they are working.

well, try using this contribution. It works for me, but it only adds an about field to the manufacturers page. i will try to add more fields like contact data and stuff to the database for manufacturers as well.

But this contribution is a good start because it creates an extra manufacturers page where all your information goes, very handy...
