    Default No Redemption Code in Email

    When i purchase a test gift certificate it does not send a Redemption Code or any link to my website in the gift certificate email. I have been all over this forum, i have been to faqs, the admin, tried all kinds of crazy things, and i cannot find the solution.
    This is the email i get:

    You recently purchased a Gift Certificate from our online store.
    For security reasons this was not made immediately available to you. However, this amount has now been released. You may now visit our store and send the value of the Gift Certificate via email to someone else, or use it yourself.
    The Gift Certificate(s) you purchased are worth $5.00
    $5.00

    i can only get a redemtion code if i send a gift c from the admin. i
    what i am doing wrong? do i not have something set properly?
    does anyone know?

    If you are logged in at the time you release the Gift Certificate, it is automatically applied to your account.
    Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

    thank you so much for your response. this is really driving me crazy.

    so, if i understand correctly, if a customer is logged in and they purchase a gift certificate, they will not recieve a redemption code. right? but one has to be logged in to purchase anything. so, they will never receive a #? right?

    if that is the case how can another person redeem a gift certificate that was given as a gift? (they would need the redemption # or the persons login. i don't understand this at all.

    do you mean logged into the admin?

    i disabled the gift certificate queue since and the # or a link to my site still doesn't show.

    do you know of any links that i can access that will explain this? i haven't been able to find anything about the redemption # anywhere. i feel like i am asking a question that was probably covered a million times somewhere.

    i'm such a ding dong (every once in a while). please disregard the question about sending a gift to another person - i get that now. wow.

    i now think i may have somewhat of a grasp. but, to make sure can you please at least tell me that nothing is broken - that this is just the way the shop works? by the way, i do love zen cart. i despised it at first because i thought it despised me.

    Still having problems: No Redemption Code in Email

    Hello Kim,

    i have tried everything:
    logged in/out
    que/no que
    wax on/off

    searched high and low the wiki, faq, and forum.

    no matter what i do, there is no redemption CODE and no LINK to the store in the email the customer gets after purchasing a gift certificate.

    it is something i am not doing properly? i cannot figure this out.

    maybe i still don't understand the Remption Code process, but shouldn't there be a redeem # in case the customer wants to print out the email and give it as a gift in an envelope or something?

    anyone? help. please. thank you. thank you.

    You are not doing anything wrong.

    There is no need for a redemption number on a gift certificate that you buy.

    However, if you email one to someone either by admin or from your customer account (to send part of the gift certificate amounts you've purchased), then THAT email will have a redemption code.

    thank you for the answer!

    i assumed that a customer would receive a redemption code.
    but, the fact that a customer does not get a code means the only way for them to give a gift certificate to another person is via email. right?

    do you have any recommendations as to the best way to get around this? - to make sure that a customer recieves a code just in case they would like to print the email and give it as a gift? to me, this would be a likely scenario.

    When someone purchases a Gift Voucher they receive an email with a link in it, which they use to Redeem that Gift Voucher. It's then added to their Gift Voucher Balance. Depending upon which version of CCGV you have installed they can then:
    1. Go to their Shopping Cart (when logged in) and go to GV Send. From there they can email the Gift Voucher (all or part of it) to someone else, along with a personal message.
    2. With a small modification to CCGV they can also go to their Account page and send it from there.

    thank you for your response to my question.

    you see, the problem i am also having is there is also NO link in the email. - at all.

    so, to me it doesn't appear to be a complete email and is a confusing experience for the customer.

    i do not know which version of ccgv i installed. i just installed zcart about two weeks ago. i opted for a test site installation, so the gv module was already installed when i started working with it.

    so, there is no link to my store in the email. any suggestions?
