    Price Breakpoints with fixed quantities

    Hello -

We have a client that sells bulk items and prices them according to quantity. For example, up to a 100 items each item would be $1. If clients purchased between 100 and 200 items the price goes down to 75 cents. So far everything can be done in Zen.

The problem is that after 200 items clients HAVE to purchase quantities in multiples of 100 in order to get the discount. No orders of 303 for example would be allowed. Clients would have to order 200, 300 or 400 items (batches of 100) in order to get the discount.

It appears as though Zen will allow a minimum order to be set, but that would prohibit individual items from being ordered at the lower level. On the other hand, I don't see anything in Zen that would allow the bulk level to set at different increments. (I'm hoping I'm wrong in this).

Any help on how to get around this problem would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of elements in the shopping_cart class that deal with handling quantity minimums and increments. I suspect that adding something in there is the right place to build the support for what you're after.

You'll likely have varying quantity thresholds before increments are required, so may need to extend the database schema somewhat to account for the needed flexibility.

I suggest leaving the existing increment support, but simply bypassing it if the minimum-threshold-before-requiring-increments is not met.
