Default Losing my hair to SSL

    Hi

I have finished a shop for a client and now want to apply ssl so that customer logins etc are secure.

The clients url is www.internationaloutreach-shop.com so I am using this minus the www. start bit.

I generated the private key, then the CSR in MODSSL via cpanel.

When the purchased certificate arrived from PositiveSSL, I uploaded the .crt file as instructed.

I then changed my configuration.php to have http://internationaloutreach-shop.com and https://internationaloutreach-shop.com as both states operate out of a single diretory.

I then set SSL to true.

Now I can access the site fine with the http:// but when I use https:// either by typing it into the address bar or via clicking on the user login, I get a message stating:

    "The connection was interrupted

The connection to internationaloutreach-shop.com was interrupted while the page was loading."

Anyone know why this is happening. I have tried generating a self certifying ssl using www.internationaloutreach-shop.com just in case this was the problem.

The site is configured with a dedicated ip address but beyond this I'm a little lost.

    Help needed desperately

    Thanks

    MK

Your certificate is not installed correctly,

you may want to contact your host about this issue.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

Finally worked out where I went wrong. Needed to use WHM instead of control panel and everything then happened quite gracefully.

Can I ask, is it normal for IE and Firefox to pop up a warning when the https is first accessed from a browser?

    Cheers

    no,
you probably have a name error

do you get the error when you use https://www.domain as you do when you use https://domain

    Hi

tested, still gt a warning and this time it also stated the name on the certificate did not match the site name which would be true as I used internationaloutreach-shop.com for the application.

I did e-mail positivessl about this and they replied saying I needed to install an intermediate certifcate for litessl who issued the cert on the Apache server.

I take it this is something my provider would have to do as they talk about hsphere which I do not think I have access to?

    ????
