how do i turn on the box?

I want to activate the box which shows the shipping info page, privacy info, sitemap, etc. how do i go about this?

That's your "Information" side box.

Admin - Tools - Layout Boxes Controller:

~sideboxes/information.php - Edit:

Box Details:

My info looks like this:

Box Details:
Box Name: information.php
Left/Right Column Status: ON
Location: (Single Column ignores this setting) LEFT
Left/Right Column Sort Order: 50
Single Column Sort Order: 40
Single Column Status: ON

The above is just an example, but you'll see how to "turn it on". You might have to change the sort order, depending where you'd like that side box to sit or perhaps change sides even.
