customer account text filds unfillable

I have a ZC project in I am upgrading in which the fields for the customer account are very small and also locked so that one cant type into them.
The customer data has be expanded to included other data so the database table has not been upgraded there correctly I don't think. But I believe this to be a setting because it is like this on their old ZC (v 1.2.1) and their new one (1.3.1)
They are using some level of customer approval so that may be part of it.

I shoud add that in the new in stall only required fields are not inputable, I can put my phone number in there

There have been issues in the past where server settings will cause this to happen as they do not give the right MySQL database information about the fields correctly ...

I forget the actual fix that the hosting site has to make, but it has occured before and each time it has been a server issue to fix this ...

I hope that a bit of server info might help you remember this one. last week the server upgraded to PHP Version 4.4.2. for the 1.3.1 upgrade.
The MySQL version is 3.23.58
all of this is running on Apachee 2.0

Apparently this was not a problem in the old sit and I suspect it is some thing to do w/ the the PHP upgrade. I hope this helps the thought process.

I looked at the zc_install check list again, and found these issues.

• PHP open_basedir restrictions = /home/httpd/vhosts/logoincluded.com/httpdocs:/tmp (BTW that is the local setting there is no global setting for this)

• # Register Globals = ON

• # PHP session.use_trans_sid = ON

I bet its one of these issues

well here is an update for an under read thread. after more searching ah haggling w/ the server admin I found this link
it helped it was the issue. the problem was the server admins spent hours arguing that they had not do it wrong. they said that the function was broken.
I eventually had to get a 3rd party server admin to do the work.

there you go mystery solved once more
