    Default Newbie CSS problems

    Hello,
I'm reposting this from the background color thread as requested.

I've created my own template folder by copying the default and renaming it. I created a stylesheet (stylesheet.css) but the changes I'm making don't seem to show up. There are 3 different stylesheets in the css folder though, so I'm not sure if I'm changing the right one. I've attempted to make changes to the background color, and also widen the main table to 850px. Neither change seemed to appear.

More recently, I downloaded the free zen cart template from template monster (in hopes that it would be easier to modify something that was already figured out) but I can't see any changes from that either. In the admin section I selected my template, so I'm not sure if I've overlooked making a change someplace else.

My store is http://www.shoprefurbished.com and is currently set to display the maintenance page

If you're building a template from scratch, I suggest you delete everything you copied from "classic" as a starting point, and start fresh using "template default" as a base ... this is less complicated. (classic in 1.3.0 is a backward-compatible template, used to help upgraders update from old code).

Thus, you would end up deleting the stylesheet_new.css and stylesheet_original.css.
Then, since you're left with only one stylesheet (the print-stylesheet is unrelated at present, and can be left alone), your edits should be more predictable.

wish I'd tried that about 11 hours ago! The non-classic template looks WAY better, and would probably encourage lots more people to look at Zen.
