removing test from banner

I just changed the header_bg.jpg file but I still see some text that says:
"Sales Message Goes Here" at the right end of the banner, how do I delete that text?

in includes -> languages -> english -> YOUR_TEMPLATE -> header.php

Find the following line:

define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'Add your own text here or leave blank');

and make whatever changes you want.

The text in red is what you change or delete.

There was no text there to begin with. That's why the "Sales Messsage Goes Here" text is in another file, what file is it?

I made some more changes trying to solve this problem. I've read through the FAQ on this subject and it doesn't give me the info I need to solve the problem.

Look at the page again, http://www.portlandwinegear.com/shop and you can see the header_bg.jpg under the green Portland Wine Gear sign which is the logo.gif file. How do I get rid of the header_bg file so it does not get in the way?

Before you go any further- Go to the FAQs and read the section on setting up and customizing a template. You are playing with the Classic template and you need to set up a custom template so your site won't get overwritten during the next upgrade.

So what do I do with the classic one to put it back to where it was? I thought I could change a banner in the classic on default. I have had trouble understanding the instructions, some things can be done with the straight code and others with the admin area. it seems rather confusing.

I have already entered 40 items do I have to re-enter them in some other custom theme. All I wanted to do is get rid off some of the modules that weren't needed and add my own banner with our name on it. I shouldn't have to create a whole new template just for that. Please explain and simplify. Thank you.
