Meta Tag Description Problem NOT fixed

I am reporting that the meta tag description problem that was reported by Ajeh on April 28th is not fixed. The original thread is located at: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34103

The bug fix solution that Ajeh proposed is exactly the same code in the original file and has not effect on the bug.

Just a quick update on the bug... prior to 1.3 if a product doesn't have meta tag information created on the Admin side, Zen Cart uses the product description (up to certain number of words/characters) if one exist to populate the meta tag description. This is currently not working as the meta tag description is not picking up product description.

I suggest you take a deep breath and another look at the original 1.3.0.1 code and Ajeh's fix line by line.

It is, in fact, different. If it does not fix your problem, it should be readdressed in the forum.

Thanks! I did take a look and have since updated the site with the patch and all that. But, this is definitely a bug as it is consistent across multiple sites and even with a clean install. Since I do not want to double post...here is a link to the thread on this issue. If the Dev Team concludes this is a bug they can move it here. I wonder how many people having this issue and just doesn't know it.

The ONLY PROBLEM I see is that the transfer to a new forum has somewhat hidden the sticky at http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34103 Perhaps that can be moved by the devs.

BUT... That does not justify vilification of the dev team.

Of course it was realized as a problem. Otherwise Ajeh would not have posted a fix only six days after the release of 1.3.0.1.

And twice now, she has given you a fix.

You have v1.3.0.1 correct?

You have a Meta Tags issue on the auto generated meta description ... it is not including the description of the product ... correct?

The reason is because the function is missing the ELSE statement ...

OK there was an issue,
it has been fixed
IF you have exactly the same files then you need to re-upload the new ones since something went wrong.

Tony, I am not arguing with Ajeh. She's been extremely helpful with this problem. I am just trying to get this fix on my server because I am too lazy to manually adjust meta tags for 1,000s of product :)

dbltoe is the one that needs to get out of the conversation that he/she is not familiar with. Obviously, I didn't even file this as a bug original...the team post it and fixed it.

I have 3 sites with Zen Cart on it and I have tried the patch and it hasn't work on any. who knows, maybe Smart FTP program I am using is junk.

I am going to try a different FTP program to upload the file and see what happens and I will report back.
