IP won't turn off?

Bruce - of the Almighty Sermon Zone has been unbelievably helpful with my shop set-up but thought I should come here to see if anyone knows what's up with this.

He had recommended that I turn off the IP address at the bottom of the page. When I did it. It still shows up. I even turned it on and off a few times and it still shows up. He said he wondered if the breadcrumb might be messing with it?

Admin/config/layout settings/ Footer - Show IP Address status

If it is not turning off with the setting in the Admin ... then I would have to say that your template is lacking the code for this in your footer ...

You would need to do this manually, or fix the code so that in the future you can use the Admin setting for this ...

That's no problem for me to mess with the code. Do you know exactly what I'd need to do though? I don't like going into the php files without knowing what to change exactly.

What you need to do is a search on your code via the Admin ... Tools ... Developer's Tool Kit ...

In the bottom input box type in:

$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']

Select Catalog ... and Click Search ...

This will show you where this code is hiding in your template so you can comment it out or fix it ...

Okay I'm assuming this is where it needs to be changed? (It showed up in quite a few files) But to what exactly? I'm a total ghetto hacker so I don't touch stuff unless I know exactly WHAT to do!

You can delete that or comment it out ...

I am not sure if you have an IF around there or not that should be controlling it or not ...

If you see that, then you need to check if there is an override doing something different, or if you might have multiple configuration_keys for the:

SHOW_FOOTER_IP

I completely deleted that out of the tpl_footer and nothing happened. Weird.

Where else do I look?

I mean, I don't really care about it but do people not like seeing that?
