Unable to change config permissions...

I have just moved my store to a new location on my site. I get a message at the top saying, I am able to write to your configuration file.... (includes/configure.php) Etc.

I have tried to changed the permissions on that file to 444 but they don’t stick. Currently it is stuck at 644.

How can I change this? Can this be edited in the file itself? I had a look but don’t know what to change.

Some hosting sites do not give you full control of your site via FTP ...

Usually you can get around this by going through your Control Panel and changing the permissions there to 444 ...

Or perhaps ask your hosting site why you don't have full control of your own site ...

Well, it's obvious - this user is hosting is website under Windows Server. Meaning, only ISPs has control over permissions regarding everything on this subject.

in that case ... I have to say it is a little bit confusing since this section is about windows on the forum.

Thank you everyone... I didn’t realize my server was linux... My appologies...

Anyway, the problem is solved thanks to your help. I could change the permissions by going through the Control Panel... I will have to make a note of this.
