Coupon or Referral. Which Mod. to Utilize?

I have been reading the postings on coupon and referral but I am unable to deduce which is the most appropriate mod. to use for my marketing purpose. What I wld like to do is for every 5 unique person an individual (referral) manages to get to create an account at my website, I wld credit a $20 coupon to the referral. For instance:

George manage to get 5 of his friends to each create an account at my website. A $20 coupon wld be credited to George's account. Yvonne, one of George's friend who just sign up for an account, introduces another 15 of her friends to sign up and hence her account wld be credited with 3x $20 coupons.

Can the above be done? Which mod. shld I be using? Can the system automatically credit the coupon to the eligible referral? Do I have to keep track of who refers who manually?

I believe zen-cart v1.27d can prevent duplicate email addresses but how can i prevent a person who has multiple email accounts from signing up. Pls. pls. pls. help.

This can be done ... but it would require quite a bit of customizing ...

You would need to track orders/referrals and then based on how many, generate and send the appropriate Discount Coupon ... probably best to make these totally unique and auto generating so folks do not share with a friend ... :)

While searching for referrals I have found you on most of the threads helping along. There is an obvious need for a referral system. I need one. Are you a programmer? Can you build one? How much would you charge and how long would it take?

We need to be able to give customers a unique ID# that they can pass to others whom they refer to our site. When the 3rd party signs up or buys something, the referrer gets a percentage discount on our products. Something like that... but could be improved where there is like a two-pronged discount option so that the referrer and the 3rd part both can get some kind of discount.

All I know is I need a proper Referral system that runs *automatically*. I don't want to have to look at reports and give users discounts manually after they have referred customers.

Are you or anybody here interested? I am looking at OsCommerce and others because this is such an important feature for me.

I realize this is an older thread, but what you are really looking for is affiliate program software. I use JROX - (an affiliate and referral program are basically the same thing).
