Not require payment for $0.00 orders?

Hi All,

I had a setup that was working, but now seems to be malfunctioning. I have a class of customers who get a 100% discount, and I want them to be able to NOT pay via credit card or check/money order, but rather just skip the payment process altogether and checkout with a $0.00 balance. I had this working for a couple weeks in testing mode, but once I went live it started requiring users to select a form of payment. Any idea how I can get around this?

As I continue to do testing, it seems that this is only an issue on really large orders - over $1500 dollars. Otherwise I am able to check out with a $0.00 balance without any problems. Any clues?

Ok, this is getting really weird now. After even more testing, it almost seems random as to when I get this message. For example, a combination of windshirts in the following quantities will not go through: 10 L, 7 M, 10 XL, 5 2XL, 10 3XL. However, if I take any four away, it allows me to check out with a $0.00 balance. If I add a hat or something else, it does not let me check out. I can't tell if it is restricting me based on number of items, total amount, or something else.

Does anyone know what triggers the popup warning box that says "Please select a payment method for your order." ? If I can find the trigger, perhaps I can fix this faulty code...

why not just have them use the check/mo module.....

Basically it's a matter of matching a system that their people had used previously - they didn't have to select a payment option for internal buyer purchases before, and when we switched over to Zen-Cart they didn't want to change that. They are rather finnicky :-P

Is there a way that I might install a "duplicate" check/money order payment option, except rename it "Internal Purchase" or something like that? That would fix the problem and keep checks/money orders and internal purchase separate.

1. the error message is generated by the payment modules
2. what payment modules do you have enabled in Admin->Modules->Payment?
3. what order-total modules are enabled in Admin->Modules->Order Total?

Yes, I think you are right. I actually just rewrote a few things to have a separate payment option for internal buyers, which is working very well. Thanks for your help!
